The Kump Family Reunion

We got back late last night from another reunion! This time it was Hunter's family. His Kump grandparents found the place and we (yes, I mean Hunter and I) were in charge of it. Everyone said it went really well, but I am just glad that I don't have to plan one again for a REALLY long time! :)
We had SO much fun. Here is how our trip went...
Thursday morning, we got up early and started to pack the car and get ready to go. We left here about 10:15am, to get gas, and then head to the Jackson's house. We picked them (Tammy and Errol) up and got to the Cooke's house about 11am. We picked up Lindsey, Ian, and Taylor. We left there about 11:15am, and started our long drive. It is only about 300 miles, but we had quite an adventurous stop. Keelia was sick the day before and was still not feeling well and just wanted me. But I was driving. So I pulled over to switch spots with Hunter and while we were pulled over, the Jackson's car overheated and dumped a bunch of coolant. So we waited a while until we could drive again. Then there was no where to stop and eat a long the way, because we were driving through this quaint mountain range. Then Keelia threw up all over everything. So we had to pull over on this two lane road with no shoulder room and clean up her and the car. It was quite the task. After about 45 minutes, we got back on the road. about 3:30, Keelia finally fell asleep and of course, everyone wanted to stop and eat. So her nap lasted about 15 minutes and there was a mix up, so our little family of three didn't get to eat. (And if you know me, this many hours in a car, plus no food, and a sick baby, equals a very crabby Katie.) Then we finally get to the little town where the house is located and we drove around for over an hour trying to find the street it was on. Finally at about 6:45pm, we found the place and got to get out of the car. It was a long day. (And it was hot. This house had no A/C.) Then we had to start the dinner prep. It was our night to cook. We finally started eating about 8:30pm. Even though we were all so tired, we stayed up and played games, because that is just what you do at family reunions! Needless to say, when bedtime finally came, we were all ready for it!
The next day we had plans to go to the hot springs pool. We finally made it there just before noon. Our little family swam until about 1:30pm, until Keelia had had enough, and then we headed back to the house for her to eat lunch and take a nap. Hunter and I played card games and tried not to die of heat until everyone else came back from the pool. When everyone got back, dinner preparation began. Somehow we still didn't eat until after 8pm. But we had yummy bread and pasta. And again we stayed up way too late and played games, but it was so fun!
Saturday morning we had plans to go fishing. We (Ian, Errol, Hunter, Keelia, and me) finally got to the lake at about noon (are you sensing a pattern?) and didn't catch anything because it was so hot. We fished until Keelia told us it was time to go. When we got back to the house, we ordered pizza for lunch and just hung out. That afternoon, it actually started to rain and cool down. It was a much needed break from the heat. After Keelia's nap, we decided to go fishing again before dinner. This time we had some success at catching, which made it more fun! Plus, Hunter's cousin Sean and his family came fishing with us this time. We got back to the house after 8pm, and dinner was nowhere near ready. We ate at about 9:15pm. We had yummy steak sandwiches.
Sunday when we woke up, we were going to go to one of the waterfalls around, but it was COLD and foggy. So we couldn't. We just lazed around and played games and ate all day. Which is the perfect day, right? Our job on Sunday was to eat all the leftovers from the previous three nights, and we all tried our best. :) We left for home at about 6pm. We stopped and had dinner and got gas, but other than that, it was a smooth ride home. (Everyone else stayed until today, but Hunter had to work this morning, so we had to leave a night early.)
We had so much fun at this reunion. Keelia did really well being off her schedule and really loved getting to play with her cousins on this side of the family! We look forward to when we can get together again! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
